Stop wasting Time. Setting priorities efficiently
Are you trying too hard?
Most of us think, being and keeping “busy” means that you are efficient. Working hard, being busy, productive. These are all attributes that are highly valued in our current era. However, how often do you observe yourself and others being overwhelmed by the tasks at hand? How efficient are you actually?
It’s time to shift our mindset from a “doing the work” (being in executive mode) to “managing the workload efficiently” (taking responsibility on how to design and take control of our energy and time management).
Managing requires stepping back from the actual To Do List and taking some time to figure out your priorities. For decades now, but still incredibly valuable, the Eisenhower matrix has been a great place to start:
“We are always choosing, whether we recognize it or not. Always.”
Dr Mark Manson
There’s an excellent book out there by Dr Stephen Covey, a classic but always worth picking up again: 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
If you haven’t read it yet, maybe you would like to watch her video first and try our Worksheet with simple exercises on how to change your mindset.

Putting it into practice

Try This!
A) The Eisenhower Matrix is a simple, yet useful to tool to remember. The idea is to organise your tasks by deciding whether they are urgent or important, both or neither. Once you have segmented them, you place them in your daily routine accordingly.
B) How do you decide what to do “when”. Again, this goes beyond simple time management. It’s about your own biorhythm. When are you at your best? When are you at your lowest, most tired point? We recommend you reflect on your daily rhythm and draw a chart to get clarity. Then you decide what tasks (administrative, creative, strategic, communication, etc) to do in which time slot.
